Handloom fabric by the metre and in ready-to-stitch cuts

Our handloom fabric range is for anyone who would rather start from the cloth. It is sold three ways: by the running metre, as 2.5 metre pre-cut pieces — enough for one kurta — and as leftover swatches, the short end-of-bolt lengths that are ideal for blouses, borders, yokes and patchwork.

The bulk of the range is handwoven cotton, with Ajrakh and Sanganeri hand prints running through it and a smaller number of silk and Jamdani lengths. Every product page states the width and the unit you are buying, which matters: add as many metre listings as you need and they arrive as one continuous length.

Because these are woven by hand, slight irregularities in the weave and small colour shifts between pieces are normal. They are the signature of a handloom, not a flaw.

Is fabric sold by the metre?

Yes. Most designs are listed as a single metre and as a 2.5 metre ready-to-stitch piece. Add as many metre listings as you need and they are cut as one continuous length.

How much fabric do I need for a kurta?

2.5 metres is enough for a standard kurta, which is why the pre-cut pieces are cut to that length. Longer or fuller styles need more — check with your tailor.

What are leftover swatches?

Short end-of-bolt lengths left after a run. They are too small for a kurta but ideal for blouses, yokes, borders and patchwork, and they are priced accordingly.

How do I care for handloom cotton?

Gentle cold hand wash separately for the first few washes, dry in shade, and press on the reverse. Handloom cotton softens with every wash.
