Paithani Dupattas

Paithani is among the slowest weaves in India. The pattern is built by tapestry technique — the weaver interlocks each coloured weft by hand instead of running it across the full width of the cloth — which is why a traditional peacock or lotus motif can take weeks, and why it reads identically from both faces.

In dupatta form that craft becomes wearable far more often than a full Paithani saree does. Worn over a plain silk or cotton kurta, a Paithani dupatta carries an entire outfit on the strength of its pallu and its zari border.

Our Paithani dupattas are handwoven in silk with real zari, in the traditional palette of deep single-tone grounds against contrasting borders.

Because these are woven by hand, slight irregularities in the weave and small colour shifts between pieces are normal. They are the signature of a handloom, not a flaw.
