The magic of Kota Doria lies in its unique weave known as khat—a grid-like pattern created by alternating fine cotton and minimal yarns and/or zari tissue. This square checkered weave gives the fabric its lightness, transparency, and strength. Woven on traditional pit looms, every saree is a testimony to meticulous handcrafting, taking weeks to complete. The zari—fine metallic threads, often gold or silver—are woven with care, lending the saree a gentle shimmer like desert sunlight on water.     

A luminous floral creeper with birds  gently blooms across the border of this exquisite saree, delicately interspersed with elegant copper gold and silver zari coin butas that catch the light with every movement. The border features a subtle copper gold zari border, beautifully accented with a red selvedge that adds just the right touch of contrast. The pallu is a statement in quiet luxury—intricately woven with silver zari diagonal geometric plain  pallu.. Paired with a separate red blouse adorned with zari buttas and matching zari borders, this ensemble is a perfect blend of grace, tradition, and refined modernity.

Our Zari Kota sarees are handwoven in Kaithoon, Rajasthan, the only region in India recognized for producing an authentic Kota Doria. This timeless weave received its official Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2005—a mark of cultural heritage and craft purity. The unique GI mark is typically woven into one corner of the saree's pallu as Kota Doria. When you wear a Zari Kota textile from Rutambhara, you're draped in a piece of protected legacy.
